Arturo Pérez-Reverte Gutiérrez was born on November 25th the year 1951 in Cartagena. He is a Spanish novelist who spent his early days working as a journalist and war correspondent for Spanish Radio and Television Corporation, a job he did for 21 years. He later took up full time writing with his first novel released in 1986.
His Captain Alatriste series of novels catapulted his popularity throughout the world. Today, he is a member of Royal Spanish Academy a role he took up in June 12th 2003. In his writing career, he has written thousands of articles for newspapers and journals, and his captain Alatriste series has been shot as a film.
While his books are fictional, he has been quoted saying that he often writes from experience. Evidently, his years as war correspondent exposed him to a lot of adventures and challenges which he puts down to paper so effortlessly yet wittily.
